About the Speaker:  Jae Knowlton

Leadership is easy. Leadership is glamorous. Leadership is rewarding. Until it isn’t. There are challenges to leadership that the people who promoted us may have neglected to mention. This month's luncheon will feature a presentation by Jae Knowlton, a veteran call center leader and author of Leadership In Doubt, who will share his perspective on three truths about leadership that most leaders rarely talk about: fear, failure and faith.

Jae Knowlton spent almost 22 years with Starwood Hotels and Resorts in their Austin Customer Contact Center, starting as an inbound call taker and working his way up to become the Associate Director of the site. In between he became a Six Sigma Black Belt and helped build the kind of culture that helped the site be named a Top Workplace in Austin all 3 years he sat in the Director's chair. After his job was eliminated in 2015 he took his knowledge to Sears Holdings, where he served as National Process Manager for 3 years before experiencing another job elimination this past September. In 2017 he self-published his first book, Leadership In Doubt, which started out contrasting the leadership styles of Kings Saul and David from The Bible, but became an exploration of the intersection of work and faith on his own leadership journey. Jae has been married to Laura for 25 years and has 2 kids, Kasey 22 and Parker 19.
